We acknowledge the Ongoing Custodians of the lands where we work and live.
We celebrate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique cultural and spiritual relationship to Country, and their rich contribution to Australia.
We pay respect to Ancestors and Elders past and present. We recognise the important role that education has to play in walking alongside the leaders of the future. The NSW Department of Education (NSW DoE) recognises that by acknowledging our past, we are laying the groundwork for a future that embraces all Australians; a future based on mutual respect and shared responsibility.
At Picnic Point High School (PPHS), we have a vision to embrace culture in a way that is both responsive to the needs and perspectives of both our local community and our school community. We strive to immerse our learners in local cultural understanding and language through collaboration and consultation with local Elders and other advocates for the rights of First Nations peoples. We also strive to anchor our educational experiences in a way that is authentic and responsive to First Nations customs. We want our students to be active and culturally aware citizens that value First Nations education and culture.
Our school has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) that supports Relationships, Respect and Opportunities for our First Nations students and community members.
