The school recognises that digital devices have become a part of modern lifestyle and education, particularly for young people. However, the widespread ownership of digital devices among young people requires that school administrators, teachers, students and parents take steps to ensure that digital devices (especially mobile phones) are used responsibly at school. The Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Procedure is designed to ensure that potential issues involving digital devices can be clearly identified and addressed, ensuring the benefits that digital devices provide can continue to be enjoyed by our students.
From Term 4 2023, student use of mobile phones during school hours is not permitted. Mobile Phones are to be locked in Yondr pouches as soon as students are on site and should not be accessed during the school day.
From 2024, all year groups will be BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Student owned laptops will be used to enhance their learning at school and at home through virtual classrooms such as Google Classroom. Assessments and homework can be submitted online and staff can easily share educational resources and research links.
Students who do not use their digital devices responsibly will result in notification to parents/carers and their device will be kept safely at the offce for parent/carer pickup.
