Year 6-7 enrolment procedure

Year 6 students applying for Year 7 2022

The process of enrolment into Year 7 at Picnic Point High School begins when students reach Year 6 (the last year of primary school).

In line with the 2019 Department of Education Enrolment Policy changes, Picnic Point High School is at capacity and is only able to process the applications from within the catchment area.  Picnic Point High School will not be processing non-local students unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Enrolment procedure for Year 7 2022

Government primary schools:

Your primary school will provide each student with a ‘Moving Into Year 7 In A NSW Government School in 2022' booklet around 10 March 2021. This booklet contains the ‘Expression of Interest Form'. The primary school will identify the designated local high school for each individual student on page 5.  Parents and carers of students who live within the catchment area should return the completed Expression of Interest form to their primary school on or before Friday 19 March 2021.

Non-Government primary school:

Parents and carers of students who live within the catchment area and are attending a non-government primary school, should complete an Expression of Interest that can be found in the 'Moving Into Year 7 In A NSW Government School in 2022' booklet. The completed form should be submitted to Picnic Point High School on or before Friday 19 March 2021.

For Year 6 2021 students who live outside the catchment area:

The principal of Picnic Point High School is only able to consider applications from non-local students who are not able to attend their local high school due to exceptional circumstances.  In this situation, parents and carers should return the completed Expression of Interest form to their primary school on or before Friday 19 March 2021 together with a letter, addressed to the Picnic Point High School principal, explaining in detail, why their child is not able to attend their local high school.  A copy of the following documents should also be attached:

·         A copy of the Year 5 end of year school report

·         A copy of the Year 5 NAPLAN results

Applicants identified for potential enrolment into Year 7 2022

Picnic Point High School will notify parents and carers of the outcome of their applications shortly after 1 June 2021.

If a student is identified for possible placement, parents and carers will be asked to return a completed Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School form to Picnic Point High School with the following supporting documentation:

·         Original birth certificate and/or passport for non-Australian Citizens

·         Proof of residential address to satisfy the Department of Education 100-point residential address check.  (Please note: the application to enrol cannot be accepted without documents to satisfy the 100-point residential address check).
